Privacy Policy

Summary

ChronoKeep collects no personal data. It has no backend, no analytics, no accounts. The only external service it contacts is the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.

What data is processed

• Page URLs — the URL of each web page you visit (excluding ignored domains) is submitted to https://web.archive.org/save/. This is the Internet Archive's public save endpoint. The URL becomes a public archive.
• Local storage — your on/off toggle, archive delay, and history of archived pages are stored in chrome.storage.local on your device only.
• Sync storage — your ignore list, on/off toggle, and archive delay are stored in chrome.storage.sync. Chrome and Edge sync this data to your other signed-in devices via your Google or Microsoft account. ChronoKeep never touches this data beyond reading and writing it through the browser API.

What data is NOT collected

• No name, email, IP address, or any personal identifier.
• No page content — only the URL is sent to the Wayback Machine.
• No analytics, crash reports, or telemetry.
• No advertising identifiers.

The ignore list

Any domain or URL pattern you add to the ignore list will never be submitted to the Wayback Machine. The default ignore list covers localhost, banking-related patterns, Gmail, Outlook, and PayPal. You can manage it at any time in Options.

Third-party services

The only third party this extension contacts is the Internet Archive (web.archive.org). When a URL is submitted, the Internet Archive's own privacy policy applies to how they handle that URL and the resulting snapshot. Pages submitted via the save endpoint become publicly accessible snapshots.

Children

ChronoKeep is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If the privacy policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated and a commit will be made to the repository.
